Lamp Sale
Project Guidelines
Design and build five working lamps to be sold at the end of the semester. The lamp must output at least enough light for users to read by. Students must make up, or exceed the cost of manufacturing the lamps in sale.
Goals
I wanted to make a very functional lamp that outputs a usable amount of light. I also wanted to implement found/recycled materials and machined components.

Prototype
Machining socket holder.
Semi-final prototype.
Final design
For the final design, I machined socket holders out of scrap aluminum stock. The copper pipe was reclaimed from a recent bathroom remodel. Shade is made from aluminum flashing, held together with hand-peened copper rivets. Purchased components include the aluminum flashing, bulbs, sockets, switches, wire and maple. Total cost to manufacture the lamp was $10.11. Each lamp sold for $40.00, for a profit of $29.89 per lamp.
