Chasing Hammer
Last semester In contemporary art-metals, I experimented with chasing and repousse. I needed a chasing hammer and decided to make one from some scrap steel and maple. I only put about 2-3 hours into making it because I wasn't sure what details make a great chasing hammer. It worked very well though. I'll have to make a more refined one in the future.
The odd-shaped handle makes the hammer more comfortable when using it for long periods and the slender area at the top makes it flexible.
I heat-blued the head for corrosion resistance and aesthetics.
